Have you ever received something that you didn’t deserve? Like, maybe some extra change after making a purchase, or an extra order of fries in your drive-thru order that you didn't realize was in your bag until you drove away? I love little moments to serendipity like those! That is what God’s grace is like. A special gift that you didn’t expect, deserve, or earn! A special gift, at someone else’s expense. Christ’s expense.
A common acronym for Grace is: God’s Riches at Christ’s Expense. Jesus gave up His very life, so that we could live freely, with Him, for all of eternity! Keep the extra change, it's a bonus (cha-ching)!
Charis, the Greek translation for grace, occurs in the New Testament 156 times! We created this special Charis piece with that in mind. When you wear it, be reminded that here is nothing that you could have done, or ever do, to earn or deserve God’s Charis. Ephesians 2: 8-9 explains this by saying: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.” (NIV). Your salvation, God’s Charis, is an unearned, undeserved gift. That should make you smile, just like those extra French fries did!
In Him we have redemption through the Blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding - Ephesians 1: 7-8 NIV. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines lavished as expending or bestowing profusely. It goes on further to list the synonyms: heap, pour, rain, shower. So, not only is God’s Charis free, unearned, and undeserved; it is lavished, heaped, poured, rained, and showered on you! That is how special you are to God!
When you wear this beautiful piece always remember that God spared His Son for you to have Charis. We hope that you would share your story with a friend or co-worker of how God lavished you in his Charis. Never forget how much He loves you, or how He has lavished you in His Charis!
